Our Story
It all started when…
Sean Love began working with dogs whilst living in Dublin, Ireland in the year 2000. For three years, he volunteered at a local animal shelter and fostered several dogs. When he returned to Chicago, he brought his last foster dog, The Count, with him. The Count, also known as Weeder, is still going strong today. Sean knew upon returning that he no longer wanted to work on the exchanges downtown. Instead, he wanted to follow his passion for working with dogs.
Sean used to hang out at the dog park with his pack for hours a day, which helped him to make connections—connections that turned into clients. His start began when some friends from the dog park recruited him to watch their dog for a weekend. He then walked dogs for four years until he felt established enough to open his own daycare/boarding business (and his old neighbors weren’t really cool about living next to a guy with a pack of dogs).
Pack Life opened in 2007 as a dog daycare and boarding business meant to serve all of Chicago’s dogs…the good, the bad, and the ugly. Sean strives to be very client-oriented and non-corporate in nature. He believes every dog is lovable and worthy of rescuing—which is why he rescues homeless dogs and helps out local rescues as much as he can. His current pack consists entirely of dogs from shelters and the streets. He named the company Pack Life because he lives on-site with a pack of dogs, currently 8 of his own!
Sean is proud to say that he still has his very first client dog, and he’s looking forward to meeting your pup as well.
Cheers!
